Caldo is a fanzine born directly from the boundless imagination of Joana Barrios, a realm of creative experimentation and freedom that moves seamlessly from the intimate sphere into the public domain. Its inaugural issue focuses on “marmitas” (lunchboxes)—ordinary yet inherently powerful objects that transport, preserve, and transform the culinary experience. Collaborating with Joana Barrios meant venturing into a space where every notion, whether delicate or daring, finds its rightful expression, culminating in an editorial artifact that transcends conventional formats. We were responsible for both designing and printing the publication, which comprises 20 pages accompanied by four postcards. Printed in risograph using Purple, Fluorescent Orange, and Green, this first edition of Caldo offers a striking chromatic palette, enveloping the reader in a deeply sensory visual and material encounter infused with its own distinctive significance.
