Greenhouse is a visionary collective initiative by the artist-curators Mónica de Miranda, Sónia Vaz Borges, and Vânia Gala for the Portuguese Pavilion at la biennale di Venezia. The exhibition, situated at the intersection of practice, theory, and pedagogy, is structured around four dynamic actions: GARDEN (Installation, Space, and Time), LIVING ARCHIVE (Movement, Sound, and Performance), SCHOOLS (Education, History, and Revolution), and ASSEMBLIES (Public and Communities).
Greenhouse’s Creole Garden serve as a hub for interdisciplinary and transformative actions, featuring plants sourced from tropical botany and cultivated following the principles of permaculture and syntropic agriculture. This garden will be a site of resistance, creativity, and speculation, where diverse identities of curatorial, visual, choreographic, and militant research bodies converge to form a migrant body-ground.
In line with the innovative spirit of Greenhouse, we have developed an adaptive visual system that evolves and transforms over time. This system features designs with a strong structural foundation and rich conceptual depth, reflecting the dynamic and ever-changing nature of the Greenhouse project. Through these visual elements, we aim to create a compelling and immersive experience for all visitors, encouraging them to engage deeply with the themes and actions of the exhibition.
